President William Ruto has announced a KSh250 million allocation to the Maendeleo ya Wanawake Sacco aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs across the country.
In a statement, the Head of State said the funding will enhance access to affordable credit for women-led businesses, enabling them to expand operations and increase their participation in the economy.
Ruto noted that women play a critical role in driving Kenya’s economic growth, adding that targeted financial support would unlock their full potential, especially at the grassroots level.
“To uplift women entrepreneurs, we have committed KSh250 million to the Maendeleo ya Wanawake Sacco to expand access to affordable credit and strengthen their economic participation ,” he said.
The initiative is expected to benefit thousands of women engaged in small and medium-sized enterprises, many of whom face challenges accessing credit from traditional financial institutions due to stringent lending requirements.
