The Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary has underscored the government’s commitment to leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance security operations and service delivery.
Speaking while presiding over the inaugural National Intelligence Research University (NIRU) AI Hackathon at Safari Park, Nairobi, the CS said future police recruitment will increasingly prioritize digital and AI experts.”The next police recruitment should have a lot that will deal with AI,” he stated.
The CS further revealed that the government is in the process of procuring a digital Occurrence Book (OB), a move aimed at modernizing crime reporting.“We are now doing a procurement process to acquire a digital OB,” he said, adding that the system will enable members of the public to report incidents remotely.“
“You’ll now be able to report a crime from the comfort of your home or at the scene,” he noted.
The initiative is part of broader reforms within the security sector to adopt technology-driven solutions in improving efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness in law enforcement.
