President William Ruto has pledged enhanced support for Kenyans seeking employment opportunities abroad, with a new initiative to streamline passport issuance.

Speaking in Taita Taveta on Sunday, Ruto highlighted that individuals pursuing overseas jobs will now receive their passports within one week.

“Every week, about 1,000 Kenyans leave the country for jobs abroad,” President Ruto stated. “I have ensured that those seeking these opportunities will get their passports processed within just one week. Additionally, we will cover their flight tickets, removing another barrier to securing international employment.”

The President emphasized the government’s dedication to facilitating overseas employment as a solution to youth unemployment in Kenya.

He encouraged Members of Parliament to assist in organizing young people in their constituencies to take advantage of these opportunities.

“This initiative is part of our broader strategy to tackle youth unemployment by providing both traditional and digital job opportunities,” Ruto added. “By facilitating faster passport processing and supporting international employment, we are opening new avenues for our young people to thrive.”
