President William Ruto has pledged to donate a brand-new bus to the Church of Christ in Africa (CCA) in Makadara and committed Sh4 million towards renovating the church’s roof, citing health risks posed by its asbestos material.
Speaking during a Sunday church service attended by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and several local leaders, President Ruto said the bus will be custom-built and branded with the church’s name within two to three weeks.
“I have heard your request. Give me two or three weeks, because a bus needs to be built and branded with the CCA name. I will deliver it to support the church’s work,” said the President.
He also addressed the church’s appeal for roofing support, confirming he would meet the church treasurer immediately to release the pledged Sh4 million for the project.
“I’ve been told you need Sh3 to Sh4 million for the roof. I have agreed, and as I leave, I will meet your treasurer to complete that assignment,” Ruto assured.
The President highlighted that the government has banned the use of asbestos roofing materials due to their health risks, urging churches and public institutions to comply.
In addition, President Ruto donated Sh1 million to assist in transporting church members to an upcoming event in Kisumu—an amount that complements a Sh500,000 contribution from Governor Sakaja.
The Head of State also announced plans to hold a major empowerment fundraiser for Nairobi County, calling on leaders to prepare and ensure representation from all city wards.
In a show of unity, President Ruto praised former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for supporting the national cohesion agenda, adding that such gestures were critical to national development.
Reaffirming his commitment to serving Kenyans, Ruto dismissed criticism from the opposition as mere distractions.
“I am committed, I am determined, I am focused, and no amount of intimidation or name-calling will derail me. I have enough time to deliver,” he said.
He underscored his administration’s dedication to its key development pillars, notably affordable housing and universal health coverage, saying change was underway despite resistance from some quarters.
“This country is going to change before our very eyes. That’s why you see many people resisting, but I don’t pay attention to their noise,” said the President.
