President William Ruto inaugurated the 468-unit Mokowe Affordable Housing Project in Lamu West Constituency, emphasizing that the initiative will provide job opportunities for local youth.

On the topic of electricity, Ruto announced that the National Government will connect 7,000 households in Lamu County to the power grid, with a budget of KSh600 million for this financial year.

The President also assured that the days of discriminatory practices, which previously denied certain regions access to development resources, have ended.

He stressed that every part of Kenya deserves equal attention and progress.

He urged Lamu residents to reject tribalism, which fosters division and hatred among the county’s diverse communities.

In Tana River County, President Ruto launched the Bura Gravity Canal (Korakora–Nanighi), a project aimed at expanding irrigation from 6,000 to 25,000 acres.

“Seventy percent of the funding for this project comes from the government, as we recognize the crucial role of agriculture in producing food and combating hunger,” he said.

The President further highlighted the government’s commitment to prioritizing agricultural investments to ensure Kenya’s food security and reduce dependency on imported food, which places a strain on the nation’s foreign exchange reserves.

At the same time, President Ruto urged Kenyans to reject politicians who attempt to divide the country along tribal lines.

He criticized leaders who resort to outdated tribal politics, noting that they lack a vision or plan to move the country forward.

“We will not allow those with no plan, vision, or agenda for the country to derail us with negative ethnicity and divisive politics,” Ruto stated.

Adding, “We must remain united. We are one people and one nation with a common destiny.”
