President William Ruto has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring every Kenyan has access to secure, decent, and affordable housing, describing it as a fundamental right and a key pillar of national development.

Speaking at Kirembe Grounds in Kisumu, where he presided over the groundbreaking of the Lake Victoria Marina Housing Project, President Ruto emphasized the transformative impact of the Affordable Housing Programme on low-income earners.

“Every Kenyan deserves decent, secure, dignified and affordable shelter. Our affordable housing project not only furthers this vision but also turns low-income earners like Mama Mboga into homeowners,” said the President.

The Head of State was accompanied by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, marking a rare show of unity that sent a strong message of collaboration in development matters.

The LV Marina Housing Project is set to benefit thousands of Kisumu residents by offering modern and affordable residential units, part of a broader initiative aimed at addressing the national housing deficit and creating jobs across counties.

President Ruto also took time to engage with the people and traders of Kisumu City, applauding them for their willingness to support the government’s development agenda.

“I thank the people of Kisumu for choosing progress and agreeing to rally behind the government’s plan to take Kenya forward,” he said, adding that unity and patriotism must rise above political divisions.

The President reiterated that the housing program would also stimulate economic activity by engaging local artisans, suppliers, and contractors.
