Kisumu County Woman Representative Ruth Odinga has cautioned against the continuous early political campaigns saying they are diverting the country from the development agenda.
While handing over water tanks, market stalls, and umbrellas to more than 150 women’s groups in Kisumu County, Odinga appealed to the political leaders to use their time for service delivery instead of engaging in early politics. “Early campaigns are the main obstacle of the development and cause unnecessary divisions within our communities. Projects that improve the living standards of our people are what should get more focus from us,” she stated.
The legislator, on the other hand, urged the youth to grasp the opportunity offered by the ongoing voter registration exercise to register themselves as voters. She insisted that youth participation in the electoral process is vital in shaping the country’s future.
“Don’t just complain on social media; let’s register and make our voices heard at the polls,” Odinga suggested to the youth. Her statement comes in the context of elevated political tensions in different parts of the country, where the leaders are already conducting campaigns in preparation for the 2027 general.
