Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is yet to show up in the Senate, where he is supposed to testify in his impeachment motion.

Gachagua is expected to take the witness stand and defend himself against the 11 charges leveled against him by the National Assembly in the impeachment motion sponsored by Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse.

However, at the time of publishing this article, he was yet to arrive at the plenary.

When asked by Senate Speaker Amason Kingi to produce his client, Gachagua’s lawyer Paul Muite said he could not get hold of him and requested more time to locate him.

"We are anxiously waiting for the DP. My colleagues can stand in for me as I make inquiries where he is held up," said Muite.

Notably, Gachagua attended the morning sittings at the Senate.
