Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has issued a stern warning against rising acts of lawlessness witnessed during Wednesday’s protests, stating that national security is non-negotiable and must be upheld at all times.

Speaking during the Kitui Rural Constituency Economic Empowerment Programme for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), the Deputy President affirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding citizens and businesses from politically instigated chaos.

“The safety and security of our country is not negotiable. Acts of lawlessness witnessed on Wednesday will not be tolerated again,” said DP Kindiki.

While affirming respect for constitutional freedoms—including the right to protest and express dissent—Kindiki cautioned that such freedoms must be exercised responsibly and without inciting disorder.

“The exercise of rights and freedoms is not a license to plunge our country into anarchy,” he warned. “Any political leader inciting violence and making a mockery of the shameful incidents witnessed is not only irresponsible but unpatriotic.”

The Deputy President took time to commend ordinary Kenyans—particularly women, youth, and small-scale traders—who continue to build the nation through enterprise and hard work.

He noted that peaceful, productive engagement is the true path to transformation.

The event also showcased the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen grassroots economies through the Economic Empowerment Programme, which supports women and youth groups through SACCOs.

The initiative complements the broader Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) championed by the Kenya Kwanza administration.

“We applaud the peace-loving, diligent and hardworking Kenyans who are building our nation through their daily toil,” said Kindiki.
