Kenyan rapper Wangechi Waweru, known by her stage name Wangechi, has raised serious accusations against a prominent Kenyan music producer. In a recent post on her X (formerly Twitter) account, the rapper made a startling comparison between the producer and American mogul Sean ‘P Diddy’ Combs, who is currently facing multiple sexual assault lawsuits.
Wangechi suggested that the producer, whom she referred to as the “Diddy of Kenya,” had a reputation for exploiting female artists. She claimed that many women in the Kenyan music industry had suffered similar experiences, with some leaving his studio without their music being recorded after being taken advantage of.
In her tweet, Wangechi expressed hope that one day artists in Kenya would find the courage to speak out about the producer’s alleged predatory behavior. She emphasized that this individual had a pattern of luring female artists under false pretenses, only for them to leave the studio feeling violated, without any tangible outcome from their sessions.
“One day we shall speak about the Diddy of Kenya and how no female artist ever left that studio with their music,” Wangechi wrote.
