Champions Gor Mahia missed a golden opportunity to close the gap on FKF Premier League leaders Kenya Police FC after suffering a shock 2-1 defeat to bottom-placed Nairobi City Stars on Thursday.
A victory for Gor Mahia, who still have a game in hand, would have seen them narrow Police’s lead to just two points.
The chance came after both league leaders Kenya Police FC and second-placed Tusker FC lost their matches on Wednesday.
Police were edged 2-1 by Kakamega Homeboyz in a tightly contested away game, though they maintained their spot at the top with 58 points.
Tusker’s title hopes were dented after a 2-0 defeat to Talanta FC at Dandora Stadium, keeping them on 55 points.
These results had opened the door for third-placed Gor Mahia, who remain on 53 points with two games in hand.
