Kenya’s candidate for the concluded African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship race, Raila Odinga, has thanked President William Ruto for supporting his bid.
In the elections held on Saturday, February 15, Raila lost to Djibouti’s Mahmoud Youssouf after seven rounds of secret voting by African heads of state in Ethiopia.
Speaking during a dinner after the elections, the former prime minister said President Ruto did everything possible to ensure his campaign was successful.
“President Ruto did everything possible to make the campaign a success. We were ready to win but other factors came about which you will get to hear about them soon,” said Raila.
Raila further cautioned Kenyans against blaming anyone for his loss.
“There should be no blame games after this. I conceded defeat and congratulated my opponent. I am not regretting. I am walking with my head talk. There will be another time and other things to do," Raila added.
