Raila Odinga, Kenya’s candidate for the African Union Commission (AUC) Chairmanship, has expressed confidence in his chances of securing the seat ahead of the elections set for this Saturday.
Speaking at the Bomas of Kenya on Monday during an interdenominational prayer service organized by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Women’s Chapter in his support, Raila urged his supporters to remain calm, emphasizing that whether he wins or loses the AUC Chairmanship bid, they will still have succeeded in their efforts.
The first phase of the AUC elections is scheduled for February 12-13, 2025, with the second phase taking place on February 15-16, 2025.
In the first phase, the AU Executive Council, which consists of foreign ministers from member states, will elect and appoint the commissioners responsible for overseeing various portfolios within the AU Commission.
