Azimio leader Raila Odinga has called out Members of Parliament for overstepping their oversight mandate.
Raila regretted that the MPs are now trying to carry out the responsibilities of the county governments, which, in turn, is frustrating devolution.
For instance, the ODM leader said some MPs are now constructing roads and health centers in their respective counties, projects that they themselves are contractors.
He termed the move greedy, insisting that the MPs know the roles tied to their positions and should not try to change them mid-term.
" I find it very unfair that governors are being blamed for lack of development in their counties. The greed of MPs, they want to be constructing roads and health centers, they want to be contractors themselves.
Who is going to oversight the government if the oversight themselves is the implementor? I know examples where the president is going to launch a road and the MP is the contractor. It's embarrassing," said Raila.
Raila challenged the Senate and the National Assembly to unite to ensure county governments get their rightful share of funds to serve the people.
He said the current standoff and attempts to tamper with county allocations indicate a dangerous and backward march.
