The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), in collaboration with the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), recently organised a security awareness meeting in Witho, Manyatta, Lamu County.
The initiative sought to engage local leaders, herders, and farmers in addressing the root causes of the recent inter-communal conflicts in the area. Under the umbrella of Operation Amani Boni, the event focused on promoting community cohesion, restoring stability, and building resilience against extremist influence.
Security experts led open discussions aimed at identifying vulnerabilities that extremists have exploited, encouraging proactive community involvement in countering these threats.
Through continued partnership, KDF and NCTC reaffirmed their commitment to fostering sustainable peace, strengthening local resilience, and enhancing overall stability in Lamu County, ensuring long-term safety and development for the region.
