City lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi opines President William Ruto’s administration is mishandling criticism from Catholic Bishops.
In their hard-hitting presser on Thursday, November 14, the Catholic Bishops condemned the alleged inefficiencies, including over-taxation and corruption within Ruto’s government.
The presser prompted aggressive responses from several government officials and agencies, including the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, countering the allegations.
President William Ruto also responded to the bishops, urging them to be factual as they discuss matters of national importance.
However, taking to X, Ahmednasir described the government’s responses as an own goal, urging introspection rather than combative rebuttals.
"The Government of Kenya is overreacting in its response to the statement by the Catholic Bishops. If the bishops are truthful, take the criticism on board and self correct. If the statement is not true, ignore it and deliver to the people of Kenya... but the stroppy and belligerent response by the government is, in my humble opinion, an own goal," he said.
