In an abrupt move, the Public Service Commission has canceled 86 job vacancies that were recently advertised to the public.

In its statement on Tuesday, November 18, the commission said that it reviewed the listings and decided to withdraw them immediately.

“The following advertised posts are hereby cancelled,” the notice briefly announced.

It included some senior positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, such as the Director of Foreign Service and Minister II positions, requiring 37 officers in total, at the CSG 5 grade. Also, there were 26 vacancies in the Deputy Director of Foreign Service/Minister Counsellor, CSG 6 position.

Additionally, another 23 Assistant Director of Foreign Service/Counsellor positions were canceled at CSG 7.

The PSC did not provide any explanation for the abrupt cancellation. The jobs were announced on October 28, 2025, and the applications were to close on November 18 at 5 p.m.

When the positions were first advertised, the commission directed interested applicants to its website for details and encouraged them to apply online. It has also reminded the public to be alert to fraudsters masquerading as PSC staff and emphasized that no fees are charged at any stage of the recruitment process.

“Beware of fraudsters soliciting bribes from the public while masquerading as Commission staff. The Public Service Commission does not charge any fees for job applications, shortlisting, interviews, or appointments,” an earlier notice read.

The PSC remains a strategic organ entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing human resource management in the public service, ensuring ethical conduct, and supporting efficient service delivery.

This commission also has powers to create or abolish positions in the public service and advises the government on appointments and related matters.
