President William Ruto has announced that the government is investing KES4.8 billion to develop and improve roads in Samburu County as part of efforts to expand economic opportunities and promote equitable development.

Speaking in South Horr, Samburu County, during a thanksgiving and prayer service for Devolution Principal Secretary Michael Lenasalon, Ruto said the government is committed to ensuring development reaches every part of the country.

The President said the road investment would open up Samburu to increased trade, investment and business opportunities.

He also highlighted plans to expand electricity connectivity and access to clean water while increasing investment in education, which he described as a key equaliser for Kenyan children regardless of where they are born.

Ruto further announced that the government would make it policy for Kenya’s minerals and natural resources to be processed and value-added locally.

He said the move would create jobs and enterprises while ensuring Kenyans benefit more from the country’s natural wealth alongside investors.

The President said the government’s development agenda is guided by the constitutional principles of equity, inclusivity and sustainable development.

The thanksgiving ceremony brought together leaders and residents in Samburu North Constituency.
