Parklands detectives have arrested a man accused of impersonating a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) brigadier and exploiting unsuspecting citizens by promising them military recruitment positions.

Joshua Mutui Muimi, who falsely elevated himself from civilian status to “KDF brigadier” without ever setting foot on a parade ground, is said to have run a lucrative con scheme targeting hopeful youths with forged admission letters to the Recruit Training School (RTS) in Eldoret.

Acting on intelligence, officers tracked him down to his rented apartment in Kilimani, where he was found dressed in full Kenya Air Force uniform.

A thorough search of the premises revealed the extent of the deception. Detectives recovered documents embossed with the Ministry of Defence logo, including six counterfeit admission letters all bearing the same serial number, seven fingerprint forms, and a Yilmaz Defence Industry ammunition production manual, among other incriminating items.

Muimi is currently in custody as detectives finalize their investigations ahead of his arraignment.
