The self-styled United Opposition has launched a spirited campaign to unseat President William Ruto in the forthcoming 2027 General Election.
While at it, a team the opposition tasked to come up with a special lineup on how they will share positions, should they clinch power, is reportedly finalising its work.
According to the proposed lineup seen by TUKIO.co.ke, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has been recommended to be the flag-bearer of the faction to take on President Ruto in 2027.
The team proposed Kalonzo to be deputised by either former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i or Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya.
In the lineup, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has been allocated the Prime Cabinet Secretary position.
However, Gachagua’s fate to occupy a public position is still at the mercy of the courts, having been impeached as the deputy president. Impeached leaders are barred henceforth from holding government posts.
Peoples Liberation Party leader Martha Karua will be the Speaker of the National Assembly, while her DAP-K counterpart Eugine Wamalwa has been proposed to be the Speaker of the Senate.
Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has been proposed to be the Attorney General should the opposition clinch power.
