President William Ruto has officially commissioned the revamped Ewaso Ng’iro Tannery and Leather Factory.

This major achievement by the government ensures the industrialization and empowerment of local communities.

President Ruto said that the factory is a “compelling testament” to the government’s commitment to value addition, job creation, and economic transformation.

“We are adding value to our local products to increase earnings for our farmers and create jobs for our young people,” said the President.

Situated in Narok County, the upgraded tannery is designed to process hides and skins locally.It will strengthen Kenya’s leather value chain and reducing dependency on raw exports.

The facility is also expected to enhance earnings for livestock farmers and generate employment for hundreds of youth in the region.
