Construction of the Ngong Road–Naivasha Road flyover near Junction Mall is advancing steadily, with the installation of major steel components nearing completion, signaling significant progress on the high-impact infrastructure project.

Implemented by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), the project entails a four-lane elevated highway designed to decongest one of Nairobi’s most heavily trafficked sections.

The flyover will also feature dedicated pedestrian walkways and cycling lanes, aligning with the city’s push for inclusive and safer mobility.

Recent site updates indicate that the viaduct’s steel framework is largely in place, paving the way for the next stage of works, which will include pouring the concrete deck and final road surfacing.

Authorities now anticipate that the flyover segment could be completed and opened to traffic between June and July 2026.

The Sh3.58 billion project is being financed through a concessional facility from Spain’s Corporate International Fund (FIEM), with construction works being carried out by a Spanish contractor with prior experience on major Kenyan road projects, including the Thika Superhighway flyover.

KURA officials note that the flyover is part of a broader upgrade of the Ngong Road–Naivasha Road corridor and a wider plan to modernise Nairobi’s urban road network.

To minimise disruption, a significant portion of construction activities is being conducted during night hours.
