Jamhuri

The Jamhuri Day celebrations are now underway at Nairobi’s Uhuru Gardens, with the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) overseeing the event.

The gates opened at 6 a.m., and guests have steadily arrived ahead of the official start of the festivities. All attendees were seated by 8 a.m. as the celebrations officially began.

President William Ruto is leading the event, which is also attended by three visiting heads of state. The ceremony marks the 61st anniversary of Kenya’s transition to a republic following independence in 1963.

Security at the venue has been heightened, with thorough screening procedures for all attendees.

Additional security personnel have been deployed across Nairobi to ensure the event runs smoothly and safely.
