Nine people were injured and dozen passengers rescued after a bus belonging to Chania sacco plunged into Indian Ocean at Likoni Ferry crossing channel today morning.
According to the Kenya Ferry Services, the brakes of the bus failed as it climbed up hill from the ferry on the Likoni side.
The bus which was heading to Ukunda then rolled downhill and plunged into the ocean.
Kenya Red Cross reported that nine people were injured, seven of whom were treated at the scene, while three were taken to hospital.
The accident disrupted movements at the crossing point but the bus has since been retrieved and operations resumed.
