A passenger traveling on a Kenya Airways flight from New York to Nairobi passed away mid-air on Thursday after experiencing a medical emergency.
In a statement, Kenya Airways confirmed that the incident occurred on flight KQ003, which had departed from John F. Kennedy International Airport and was en route to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi.
Despite immediate assistance and the use of onboard medical equipment, the passenger was pronounced dead at 9:10 a.m., prior to the aircraft’s landing.
In a bid to seek urgent medical aid, the flight crew initiated a diversion to Entebbe International Airport in Uganda.
However, once the fatality was confirmed and in compliance with international aviation regulations, the flight continued its journey to Nairobi.
The plane landed at JKIA at 10:27 a.m., where it was received by medical personnel, airport security, and relevant government authorities.
