The Northern Kenya Parliamentary Group has expressed deep concern over the abduction and disappearance of Della Ward MCA, Hon. Yussuf Hussein, alias “Tolfiyow.”
Hussein was reportedly abducted four days ago while en route to South C, Nairobi. His taxi was intercepted near Enterprise Road by two unmarked vehicles, and he was forcibly taken.
The taxi driver, unaware of his passenger’s identity, later recovered Hussein’s phone and reported the incident to police.
Despite the report, investigations have been slow, raising fears for the safety of the MCA and concerns about the overall security situation in Kenya. Hussein’s family has also lodged a formal complaint with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
"The subsequent investigation has progressed at an alarmingly slow pace, exacerbating public anxiety and deepening fears for Hussein's safety with the audacious act of lawlessness gripping the entire community engrossed by fear and uncertainty, raising critical concerns about the state of our nation's security," said the parliamentary group.
The Parliamentary Group called on security agencies to expedite their investigations, stressing that the abduction of a public official threatens the rule of law.
They warned that if a leader can be abducted so openly, the safety of ordinary citizens is also at risk. The group urged the government to restore public confidence by ensuring swift justice and transparency in the case.
They also emphasized that this incident is a violation of constitutional rights, particularly the right to freedom and security, as outlined in Article 29 of Kenya’s Constitution. The group demanded timely updates on the investigation and called for legal processes to be followed if there are grounds for Hussein’s detention.
The Parliamentary Group reaffirmed their support for Hussein’s family and insisted that those responsible for his abduction be apprehended and prosecuted swiftly. They vowed to continue pressuring security agencies until Hussein is safely returned and justice is served.
