Commonwealth Games champion Ferdinand Omanyala maintained his consistent form with a third-place finish in the men’s 100m at the fifth leg of the Diamond League in Rome on Friday night.
Omanyala clocked 10.01 seconds, trailing American Trayvon Bromell who posted a world-leading 9.84 to claim victory. Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme took second place with a season-best 9.99.
This marks the second consecutive third-place finish for Omanyala, who also placed third at the Kip Keino Classic World Continental Tour Gold event in Nairobi the previous week.
There, the 2022 African champion recorded a time of 10.07 seconds, in a race won by Australia’s Kennedy Lachlan, the World Indoor 60m silver medalist.
Just two weeks earlier, Omanyala competed in the Diamond League meet in Rabat, where he finished second with a time of 10.05.
