The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has moved to strengthen the prosecution of traffic offences through the development of new guidelines aimed at improving consistency and efficiency in handling such cases.
The ODPP convened an internal validation workshop for the Draft Guidelines for the Prosecution of Traffic Offences at the Kenya School of Government, Lower Kabete, Nairobi.
The draft guidelines were developed with support from the European Union (EU) through the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Programme for Legal Empowerment and Aid Delivery (PLEAD).

The workshop brought together ODPP Heads of Department, Regional Coordinators, Heads of Counties and Heads of Division to review the proposed guidelines and provide technical input.
The consultations are expected to help refine the document before its finalisation and adoption, with the broader objective of strengthening the prosecution of traffic-related offences.
The initiative comes as part of efforts by the ODPP and its partners to enhance the administration of justice and improve the handling of traffic cases within Kenya’s criminal justice system.
