Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga has stirred confusion after announcing that his party will field a presidential candidate in the 2027 General Election.
This is despite the MOU Raila signed with President William Ruto. Some quarters believe Raila might ditch Ruto and challenge him in the 2027 poll.
Speaking in Mombasa on Saturday, April 6, the former premier stated that his MOU with President Ruto does not mean the ODM Party has joined the Kenya Kwanza government.
He said the deal was only meant to help the head of state stabilise the government and the economy.
However, when the elections come, Raila said the ODM party will field a presidential candidate to challenge Ruto.
“I did not enter into this wedding with the state to betray Kenyans. Kenya is bigger and more important than any individual. Kenyans must unite and work together. But during electioneering, ODM will also contest,” Raila said.
