A family in Nyamira County is appealing for help in locating their 17-year-old son, Austine Chakua Nchogu, who went missing 10 days ago from Mwongori High School in Borabu.
Austine, a Form Four student, was last seen on May 14th after reportedly having an altercation with his chemistry teacher before leaving for the washrooms and never returning.
“We were told our child got lost on the 20th, but when I came to school, we discovered he actually disappeared on the 14th,” said his mother, Mercy Kwamboka.
The family has accused the school administration of negligence, saying it failed to act swiftly or inform them of their son’s disappearance. The matter was reported at Matutu Police Station by the family, who say the school had not filed a report.
“The school is not explaining where the child is. We’ve been there but haven’t been told anything,” Mercy added.
Austine’s father, Cleophas Nchogu, and aunt, Rebecca Kerubo, have also criticized the school’s silence, raising concerns over student safety.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the nearest police station or the family directly as the search continues.
