Dagoretti North Member of Parliament Beatrice Elachi has criticised persons using social media to share sexual content.
Speaking on Citizen TV, the MP said social media platforms have become avenues for cyber-bullying, child prostitution, spreading pornography, and promoting gambling.
“Social media is good and was meant to build self, but was not meant for Kenyans to send us their nakedness because that’s what they are doing to us. We will amend the law,” she said.
“As women parliamentarians, one day we will open our phones and show you the things we see. We will sort that out by amending the law.”
Elachi stated that the youth have taken to social media to bully politicians and their peers, which she called an abuse of the freedom of expression.
