The National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) has signed a landmark partnership agreement with the Kenya Red Cross and Hope Mobility Kenya, marking a major step towards promoting inclusion and accessibility for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) across the country.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed today, sets the stage for a nationwide initiative aimed at enhancing access to assistive devices and mobility solutions for marginalized and vulnerable populations.
The collaboration underscores a shared commitment to eliminating barriers that hinder the full participation of PWDs in social, economic, and national development.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, NGAAF Chief Executive Officer Roy Sasaka Telewa hailed the agreement as a bold and strategic move toward building a society that leaves no one behind.“This partnership is about more than just mobility it’s about dignity, empowerment, and equal opportunity,” said Telewa. “We are determined to create a Kenya where all citizens, regardless of ability, can live independent and fulfilling lives.”Under the agreement, NGAAF, the Kenya Red Cross, and Hope Mobility Kenya will work jointly to distribute assistive devices, such as wheelchairs and mobility aids, while also providing support services that uphold the dignity and rights of PWDs.
The initiative is part of NGAAF’s broader #NGAAFImpact agenda, which focuses on empowering affirmative action groups and fostering socio-economic inclusion. By targeting mobility-related challenges, the partnership aims to open doors for greater participation of PWDs in education, employment, and community life.
Kenya Red Cross Secretary General Dr. Asha Mohammed praised the partnership, calling it a testament to the power of collaboration in addressing real needs on the ground. Hope Mobility Kenya echoed the sentiment, reaffirming their commitment to making assistive technology accessible and affordable for all.
This collaboration is being hailed as a model for public-private partnerships that deliver tangible change. With visionary leadership at the helm, NGAAF is setting a new standard in inclusive development one that ensures mobility and empowerment are not privileges, but fundamental rights for every Kenyan.
