Nairobi United booked their place in the FKF Cup final after edging Mara Sugar in a dramatic penalty shootout at Dandora Stadium on Sunday evening.
The match ended 1-1 in regulation time, with both goals coming in a three-minute burst in the second half.
Substitute Michael Karamor gave Nairobi the lead in the 54th minute, heading in from Isaac Omweri’s corner, before Lameck Omondi quickly equalized for Mara Sugar with a powerful right-footed strike.
In the shootout, Nairobi goalkeeper Ernest Muhammad emerged as the hero, saving Eric Juma’s penalty as Mara missed two more attempts. Nairobi converted through Brian Ogutu, Rodgers Angal, and John Otieno, while Gideon Omondi sent his effort over the bar.
The NSL side will now face record nine-time winners Gor Mahia in the final.
