Kilifi County has launched a fully equipped modern radiology unit aimed at improving healthcare services by providing affordable diagnostic solutions to residents. The facility, which offers services at subsidized rates, is expected to ease access to medical imaging and enhance the early detection of diseases.

Speaking during the launch, Kilifi County Executive Committee Member for Health, Peter Mwarogo, highlighted the unit’s capacity to serve over 30 patients daily. He noted that within just one week of operation, more than 200 patients from Kilifi, Tana River, and Lamu counties have already benefited from the services.”The new machine will significantly boost our healthcare system by enabling timely and accurate diagnoses at an affordable cost. This is a major step toward improving the well-being of our people,” Mwarogo said.

The radiology unit is expected to reduce the financial burden on residents who previously had to travel long distances or seek expensive private healthcare services for imaging tests. Patients will now have access to essential diagnostic procedures such as X-rays, ultrasounds, and other advanced imaging services within the county.

Healthcare stakeholders have lauded the initiative, saying it will play a crucial role in enhancing medical care and reducing the strain on referral hospitals. The county government has assured residents that efforts are underway to further expand and equip healthcare facilities to ensure quality and affordable healthcare for all.
