Kenyan songbird Nadia Mukami has ignited a series of heated conversations online after reacting to a circulating list ranking the Most Viewed East African Female Artists on YouTube. The list, which includes names like Zuchu, Nandy, Diana Bahati, and Martha Mwaipaja, surprisingly left out Nadia.
Taking to Instagram, Nadia reposted the list and called out the curators, boldly stating that the ranking is “NULL & VOID” without her name. In her argument, the “African Popstar” says she has already accumulated over 118 million YouTube views, enough to earn her a spot among East Africa’s most viewed female artists.
“I saw this list and I think some people have selective amnesia. The list is NULL & VOID without Nadia Mukami,” she added, tagging WCB Wasafi in her post. The singer questioned why her impressive numbers were ignored despite being one of Kenya’s most consistent and streamed artists.
Nadia, who has just bagged the AFRIMMA Best Female East Africa award, accompanied her fiery statement with a reminder to her loyal fans, known as the KaNadians, that she was now on the road to one million subscribers. She asked the fans to continue showing love by watching her new song and supporting her in her music journey.
Since then, her post has elicited mixed online reactions, as fans backed her confidence, with others questioning the accuracy of the initial ranking.
