The highly anticipated interviews for candidates shortlisted for the positions of Chairperson and Members of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) are scheduled to begin on Monday at the Edge Convention Center, College of Insurance in Nairobi.
The interviews, which aim to fill critical positions within the electoral body, will take place in two phases.
The selection process for the Chairperson will run to Wednesday followed by the interviews for IEBC members, which will continue from March 26 to April 24, 2025.
This recruitment process comes after a prolonged leadership vacuum at the IEBC, following the departure of the previous commissioners.
The appointment of new leadership is expected to restore confidence in the commission as Kenya prepares for the 2027 General Election.
The Edge Convention Center will provide a platform for candidates to present their visions for leading and strengthening Kenya’s electoral processes.
The selection panel, led by Nelson Makanda, will evaluate candidates based on their experience, integrity, and strategic vision for enhancing the country’s electoral framework.
A total of 11 candidates were shortlisted from 37 applicants for the Chairperson role, while 105 candidates were selected for the commissioner positions.
