Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has raised the alarm over organized criminal groups exploiting the Gen Z-led demonstrations to sow chaos and destruction.

While affirming the constitutional right of every Kenyan to peacefully protest, Kagwe condemned the rising cases of property destruction, terming them acts of anarchy that undermine the spirit of lawful demonstrations.

He urged citizens to remain vigilant and take civic responsibility in safeguarding public and private property, warning that criminals must not be allowed to operate under the cover of legitimate protests.

“The theft that happened at Meru NCPB is destruction its not the Gen Zs course. Let no one lie to you that its your children who were demonstrating that broke into Maua NCPB. This things are planned by criminals,” said Kagwe.

Kagwe has called on the Ministry of Interior to take decisive action, ensuring that criminal elements do not hijack the Gen Z movement to disrupt livelihoods and threaten national stability. He spoke during his ongoing tour of Nakuru County.
