Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has today presided over the graduation of 51 Potential instructors at the National Police College, Embakasi ‘A’ campus.

The CS engaged a team set to join the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission in Haiti later in the year.

Speaking at the Administration Police Training College in Embakasi, Nairobi, during the closing ceremony of the Administration Police Service Potential Instructors’ Course, he emphasized the need for continuous police training and the promotion of a human rights-based approach to law enforcement.

Addressing graduating trainees, Murkomen urged officers to foster mutual respect between the police and the public, and to make police stations more welcoming. “Let us make police station a friendly environment for police and civilians through mutual respect, ” says murkomen

He advocated for stronger ties between local communities and police units, encouraging more frequent interactions, open communication, and responsive service delivery. He underscored the importance of maintaining professionalism so as to restore public trust. “We aim to build public trust, and ensure responsive and effective policing for all Kenyans through continuous professional development and training.” he added

The CS also directed that officers with mental health issues be given psychosocial support and urged the public to respect police officers in order to build a society of law and order.
