On Saturday, August 8, 2026, the hills of Kilgoris in Narok County became the stage for a cultural celebration steeped in tradition and national attention.
Charlene Ruto, daughter of President William Ruto and the First Lady Rachel Ruto will hold the “Koito ak Chaik” ceremony at Intonna Heritage Farm in Kilgoris Town, Naserian Village, Narok County, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
The invitation issued in the names of Dr. William Samoei Ruto and Mrs. Rachel Chebet Ruto described the event as an engagement and farewell ceremony for their daughter.
Charlene is set to engage with Tanzanian tech entrepreneur Isaya Yunge, in a celebration that is expected to bring together family members, friends, community leaders and invited guests.
The groom, Isaya Yunge is the founder and CEO of Somaapps Technologies; he built a scholarship-matching platform that connects African students to global opportunities. He has also earned recognition in Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 and the prestigious Queen’s Young Leader Awards (2018) from Queen Elizabeth II.
The ceremony has seen guests such as Health CS Aden Duale, Bomet Women Representative Linet Toto, MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, Senator Hilary Sigei, Water CS Eric Mugaa among the invited delegates.
The setting of the ceremony is decorated with African-inspired patterns, adding a cultural touch to the traditional engagement.
