Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi on Tuesday hosted a high-level strategic dialogue with senior officials from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), reaffirming Kenya’s commitment to strengthening justice, enhancing security, and improving public service delivery.
The meeting, held in Nairobi, focused on deepening the ongoing partnership between Kenya and UNODC, which has been instrumental in advancing justice sector reforms and promoting humane treatment within correctional facilities.
Mudavadi lauded the collaboration under the Programme for Legal Empowerment and Aid Delivery (PLEAD), which has helped improve prison health services, speed up trial processes, and strengthen border management.
He also highlighted Kenya’s progress in introducing methadone treatment services for inmates battling drug addiction — an initiative he said demonstrates the government’s commitment to rehabilitation and human dignity.
“These are real outcomes that touch lives and make our justice system more responsive and humane,” Mudavadi said.
He further reiterated Kenya’s unwavering dedication to regional and global cooperation, citing the country’s active participation in peacekeeping missions, leadership in cybercrime legislation, and pursuit of strategic roles within key UN commissions.
