Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to regional peace and stability, as he co-chaired the Joint Ministerial Meeting of the East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) in Harare, Zimbabwe.

The high-level meeting assessed the progress made in implementing the resolutions adopted by Heads of State and Government in February 2025 concerning the humanitarian and security crisis in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

“We engaged in in-depth discussions on the report by the EAC-SADC Chiefs of Defence following the Nairobi and Dar es Salaam meetings, while also addressing key outstanding issues vital to achieving sustainable peace and stability in the region,” said Mudavadi.

Ministers outlined a comprehensive roadmap incorporating immediate, medium, and long-term strategies to support peace efforts, including resource mobilization and financial frameworks.

Mudavadi expressed appreciation to his co-chair, Prof. Amon Murwira, Chairperson of the SADC Council of Ministers and Zimbabwe’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, for the collaborative approach in seeking African-led solutions to the crisis.
