Jubilee secretary-general Jeremiah Kioni has announced that the vote-rich Mt Kenya region will rally behind Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka in the 2027 presidential race.
Kioni said the decision was reached after what he termed a quiet but intense grassroots consultation among leaders in the Gikuyu, Embu and Meru communities.
The SG said the leaders agreed to form an alliance with the Kamba community, and the latter will be part of the revamped Gema voting bloc, which collectively will back Kalonzo’s state house bid.
The Jubilee pointsman said with the four communities backing Kalonzo, the Wiper boss will definitely send President William Ruto home.
Kioni added that they settled on Kalonzo because he has demonstrated through his deeds that he is a friend who means well for the Mt Kenya region.
"When ODM party leader Raila Odinga ganged up with Ruto in 2007 to unseat the late President Mwai Kibaki, it was Kalonzo Musyoka who stood with Mount Kenya region and saved the Kibaki presidencyIt is these and many other reasons we feel that this country deserves a leader who is calm and who can foster true national unity and reconciliation that we are rooting for Mr Musyoka, your son" Kioni added.
