The government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting esports and other sporting disciplines to empower young people and help them unlock their full potential.
Speaking at the 4th season of Esports held at Charter Hall in Nairobi, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi highlighted the transformative potential of esports on the economy.
He assured players that the government is committed to fostering the growth of the industry.”All I want to assure you is that there is a great future in esports, and as a government, we will do what it takes to support this and other sports,” Mudavadi said, addressing the participants.
He encouraged young players to collaborate with the government in enhancing coding skills, emphasizing that technical abilities such as programming could position Kenya as a global powerhouse in technology.”As you play esports, I urge you to work with us so that skills like coding can be upgraded.
As young as you are, you have the ability to transform the economy. Digital innovation is the future, and Kenya must be at the forefront of this revolution,” he added.Mudavadi also lauded a young innovator behind the ‘Hiru Game,’ a digital creation that promotes wildlife conservation by fighting poachers.

The event was graced by French Ambassador to Kenya H.E. Arnaud Suquet, Nairobi Deputy Governor Njoroge Muchiri, and Esports Federation of Kenya President Ronney Lusigi.
