Former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has cautioned Kenyans against unrealistic expectations and political hype, warning that the country is heading into a difficult period that will test national unity and resilience.

Kuria spoke during an interview with Citizen TV said the coming year will be challenging, but emphasized the need for citizens to remain committed to the country’s stability.

“We have got a very trying moment coming next year, but we have no other country. At the end of the day, we have to decide what is good for the most of us,” he said.

Kuria urged Kenyans to embrace patience and realism in governance, noting that no administration is perfect.“It is better to have an imperfect country than no country. There is no government from heaven, unfortunately,” he added.

He warned that exaggerated expectations from leadership often lead to public frustration, which can escalate into instability if not managed.

“All this hype and overexpectation, please let’s guard against them, because that is what leads to frustration—and frustration leads to the kind of bad things that this country has gone through in the past,” Kuria said.
