In a strategic meeting aimed at reinforcing Kenya’s health sector, Cabinet Secretary for Health, Dr. Deborah Mlongo Barasa hosted Eliud Owalo, Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Performance and Delivery Management, and Ms. Mercy Kiiru Wanjau, Secretary to the Cabinet, to vet the Ministry of Health’s performance contract commitments for the 2024/2025 fiscal year.
The meeting highlighted the Ministry’s achievements under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), including rolling out Social Health Insurance, training 107,000 Community Health Promoters, who are actively bridging the healthcare gap at the grassroots level, especially in rural and underserved regions

Looking ahead, the Ministry has set ambitious targets for the upcoming fiscal year. Commitments include further enhancing UHC by increasing health services accessibility, improving medical resource allocation, and scaling up healthcare workforce training
As the Ministry embarks on the next phase of healthcare transformation, the vetting process is expected to solidify the government’s commitment to providing affordable, equitable, and quality healthcare to all Kenyans.
