Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga has officially parted ways with Qatari Stars League side Al-Duhail after a successful four-year spell.

The former Gor Mahia, Tusker, and Thika United striker leaves the club as its all-time top scorer, having netted an impressive 130 goals.

Olunga joined Al-Duhail in 2021 on a three-year deal, with his transfer from Japanese club Kashiwa Reysol reportedly costing close to Ksh1 billion.

Now 31, the towering forward made a significant impact both on and off the pitch, earning admiration for his professionalism and dedication.

In a statement, Al-Duhail praised Olunga for his outstanding service:

“The management of Al-Duhail Sports Club extends its gratitude and appreciation to Kenyan striker Michael Olunga, the club’s historical goal scorer, for his exceptional contributions during his time with the first team. Olunga has been a model of professionalism and discipline, playing a key role in the club’s successes and etching his name in our history with decisive goals and performances.”

The club added: “We wish Michael Olunga the very best in his next chapter. Our doors will always remain open to the legendary striker. Thank you, Olunga — you will forever be part of the Duhail family.”

Olunga confirmed his departure in a heartfelt social media post following a disappointing, trophyless season for the club:

“Veni Vidi Vici. Thank you for everything, Al Duhail. Leaving as the all-time top scorer — 130 goals and countless memories. Thank you for the trust.”
