Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has appointed a new director of press service following the firing of Salim Swaleh.

A source intimated to TUKIO.co.ke, exclusively disclosed that Mudavadi has appointed the Standard Group’s senior political reporter Jacob Ng’etich into the position.

It is reported that Ng’etich has already reported to his new workstation and has been sharing press releases from the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary.

Before his government appointment and the 11-year stint at the Standard Group, the journalist worked at the Nation Media Group.

With more than 19 years of reporting news and political analysis, Ng’etich is seemingly equally fit for the job.

Salim Swale apologises to Mudavadi

News of Ng’etich’s appointment came shortly after his predecessor, Swaleh, shared an emotional video, crying while apologising to Mudavadi.

The former NTV journalist was arrested alongside other high-ranking officials in June 2024 after being implicated in a KSh 5.8 million scandal. He was, in turn, suspended.

In the video, the teary Swaleh said he resorted to filming himself after unsuccessfully trying to reach Mudavadi.

Following the fraud case, the journalist admitted that he had broken the CS’s trust, which they had built for over a year, and he was remorseful.

Swaleh further said since the scandal came to light and his salary stopped, life has been unbearable for him admitting he is struggling to pay bills.

He detailed how the negative publicity he received following the fraud allegations has hindered him from going outside, admitting to battling suicidal thoughts.
