Muthoni wa Kiruba, a well-known Kikuyu radio presenter, has gained attention for her unique bond with former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The two share a warm friendship that few public figures experience, and Muthoni frequently takes this friendship to the airwaves.
This week, she called Uhuru live on air to wish him a happy birthday, marking the second year she has surprised her listeners with such a call.
The conversation offered listeners a rare glimpse into Uhuru’s personal reflections.
Uhuru expressed gratitude and encouraged Kenyans to focus on harmony within the nation.
“I’m well, I’m at peace and grateful to God,” Uhuru said during the live call. “I’m praying for peace and understanding in our nation, as this is the only way our country will grow and prosper.”
Reflecting on his quieter life after the presidency, Uhuru shared, “Nowadays, I do not speak much, but I wish peace and unity to Kenyans. We all should remember that we are human beings with needs; we should stop hatred among each other.” He reiterated, “I have never had an issue with anyone, and to this day, I have no issue with anyone.”
Uhuru also mentioned that while he typically celebrates his birthday with family, this year he is away on duty, attending the 15th High-Level Retreat on the Promotion of Peace, Security, and Stability in Africa in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, and will be marking his special day with friends.
