Manchester United kept their Champions League campaign alive with a commanding victory over PSV Eindhoven in the second qualifying round semi-final in Sweden.
Elisabeth Terland starred with a brilliant hat-trick, while Celin Bizet Donnum added a first-half goal, reacting quickest to a loose ball in the box as Marc Skinner’s side dominated proceedings from start to finish.
The win sees United progress to the final of their mini-tournament, where they will face either hosts Hammarby or Ukraine’s Metalist Kharkiv on Saturday.
The two sides are set to meet in the other semi-final later on Wednesday.
UEFA’s complex qualification format means a victory in Saturday’s final would take United into a two-legged third qualifying round tie in September.
A defeat, either in that match or in the final qualifying round, would see them drop into the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup second qualifying round in October.
Despite recent progress, United have yet to advance beyond the second qualifying round in the Women’s Champions League—a barrier they’ll be hoping to break this season.
