The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has summoned Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang’wa following the chaos that erupted at a funeral in Limuru.

In the incident, suspected goons disrupted the funeral service that was being held at Bibirioni Boys High School playground, forcing former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, who was in attendance, to scamper for safety.

The mayhem resulted in multiple injuries and malicious damage to property, including high-end vehicles linked to Gachagua.

In a notice dated November 28, DCI Officer Joseph Chirchir summoned Thang’wa, who had accompanied Gachagua to the funeral, to shed light on the incident.

"I CI Joseph Chirchir, a police officer attached at DCI Limuru making inquiries into alleged offence of malicious damage to property/ injury to persons at Bibirioni Boys High School playground on 28/11/2024 at 1500 hours and have reason to believe that you, Senator Paul Karungo Thangwa have information which will assist me with my investigations," read the DCI statement in part.

Thang’wa was instructed to appear before the Regional Criminal Investigations Officer (RCIO) in Nyeri today, Friday, November 29, at 10am.
